    Meet Heather Pearman

When burdens become heavy, and life is painful, it may be difficult to reach out for help. Let’s pause and acknowledge that you have taken the first step on your path to healing. Looking for a therapist may feel overwhelming, but it will be worth your effort. I have maintained a private practice of over 16 years. During that time, I have gathered experience, skills, and sought mentors to obtain and maintain competence in my field. When you choose me as your therapist you will notice that I take a direct approach to life’s problems.

Whether it is individual struggles and growth, relational, or family issues, we will work together in a supportive environment to find the solutions that work for you. If you wish to weave your spiritual faith into your therapy I am very happy to accommodate. Whether you desire just a few sessions or want to continue therapy for a longer period we will maintain a collaborative environment in which you can move beyond the pain and into a more enjoyable life.

I believe many things influence the counseling process. Spiritual awareness and religious background are taken into consideration as well as cultural views, family structure, age, and social/economic status. With my experience in the area of marriage and families, I provide counseling services to help people create peace and balance in their lives by enhancing growth and understanding toward God, self, and others.

I am a Christian that just “happens to be a therapist.” I offer Christ-centered counseling.

For those who do not wish to incorporate faith in sessions, I will work with you and respect that decision as well. Healing and Grace are for all.

    More about me

My name is Heather  Pearman. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California for about 16 years now. As an intern I started out in Casa Youth Shelter.

Like most interns, I will never forget my first client or how overwhelmed I felt sitting in “that chair” for the first time. I also was fortunate enough to meet Herb and Lois Abrams Ph.Ds’ who lovingly took me on as an intern to work with them in their private practice, Los Alamitos Counseling Center.

Lois worked with the Gotmans in the “Love Lab” and taught me how to work with couples and families. Herb on the other hand was talented in working with children and used art therapy quite extensively. I helped him gather some of the interventions into a book called “Art Therapy for Children of All Ages” (published in 2005)

In 2009 I was introduced to Neurofeedback. I took training through EEG Institute and began using it in my office. I have continued to keep my training in neurofeedback current through continuing education and private consultation on my cases. I have also had the privilege of volunteering my neurofeedback services to veterans through the “Homecoming for Veterans” program.

    Moby, my co-therapist

Welcoming a dog to my practice has been one of the most rewarding things I have done. Moby is my co-therapist. He is a little black and white poodle mix.

He has been evaluated by Pet Partners and received his certificate as an Animal Assisted Therapy Dog. He has been working with me since 2014.

Recently he was featured in a mini-documentary from Animal Magic Films (available on youtube “Animal Magic Films – Moby” 2021).  Click on the link to watch Moby in action.

My passion for my profession continues. I have completed a one-hundred hour course in Hypnosis and Strategic Therapy with Michael Yapko Ph.D.

Through experience, I realize that there is a portion of people experiencing chronic pain that I have not been able to help until now. I look forward to specializing in pain management through the use of hypnosis and helping you on your journey of managing your pain.
